The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover (Read the Full Post) can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Clean them as needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot vacuum with mop's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good robot vacuum cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuums with mop that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot vacuum best mop cleaners we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-orThe Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
